Pete has had a busy week buying records, buying more records, buying lots of records – big and small collections of records.
A couple of people popped in to the new shop in and sold him records over the counter. A dealer collector visited from Coventry and sold us eight collectible records, and Pete had quite a few phone calls and then went off buying more records.
Pete has always said that he will travel to get the best collections. This week he visited houses around Sutton Coldfield, one in Walmley, one in Streetley and two from further afield. We will buy records anywhere in the Birmingham area, and beyond.
The wonderful attack of true British Summer Time that hit us in Birmingham this week was lovely and what with the local flooding turning the garage into a no go zone for vinyl because of the water, the dining room has become the first resting point for the new purchases.
Garages seem to be one of those prime parts of the house for storing vinyl and one of the calls was from a guy in Castle Bromwich with a garage full of records. He was due to move so needed everything to be bought. Four car journeys later and Pete shifted about 4000 records into the house.
The following day, he drove to Warwick to meet someone from Oxfordshire and bought another 1000, mainly 12″ singles – At least Jasper, the Psychotron dog, got to have a ride out and look at the world.
We no longer have a dining room.
There is a lot of work for Pete to do now sorting out the boxes so expect some new choice items to appear both in the shop in Sutton Coldfield and here on the website.
